2010 will mark the 90th anniversary of the Salzburg Festival. Mythology will be the theme of this year's opera, concert and theatre program.
Advent & Christmas in Salzburg
Advent is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful times for the city of Salzburg. In the 2007 European Christmas market study, the Salzburg Christmas market by the cathedral and residence was chosen as one of the most beautiful markets in German speaking areas. The magic of Advent around Hellbrun also received top marks. If you are in Salzburg during Advent, you should also not miss out on the smaller markets at Mirabellplatz, in the Sterngarten, St. Peter’s Abbey, in Maxglan or at the high-Salzburg fort.

2011 Easter Festival, 16th April – 25th April 2011
The Salzburg Easter Festival was founded by Herbert von Karajan in 1967 as a means of expanding the traditional Salzburg Festival held in August. The Easter Festival rapidly grew to become an exclusive and artistically brilliant festival. Elaborate new opera productions and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's extensive orchestral repertoire contributed to the Salzburg Easter Festival's renown from the very beginning.
Whitsun + Baroque Festival, 21st-24th May 2010
Masterpieces from the Neapolitan school as well as an azione sacra, Betulia liberate, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed under the direction of Ricardo Muti together with his Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini. Directed by Marco Gandini.
