Giant Ice World Werfen

Visit the world's largest glacial cave and make a guided tour through the wintery ice world during hot summer days. During your tour through the cave system you can admire wonderful ice palaces and impressive ice formations. The giant ice world is located 50 km from the city Salzburg and you can reach it easily by car or with the local buses. It's open daily from the 1st May until the 26th October.

Salt mine Salzburg

In Bad Dürrnberg, Hallein at the gates of the city Salzburg you can find the world's oldest tourist mine. In the traditional miner's costume you can explore the depths of the salt mine. With a small train you'll drive into the tunnel and then your adventure starts right across smoothly polished slides, through salt lakes and right into the heart of the mountain. You can reach the 18 km remote salt mine from the city Salzburg by car or by train with the ticket "Salz-Erlebnis-Ticket" from the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).

Mountain Untersberg

Großglockner High Alpine Road

Across the Großglockner High Alpine Road you can explore the highest mountain of Austria (3,798 m) and the majestic alpine landscape of the Hohe Tauern. This extraordinary nature experience enthralls millions of visitors every year, making the panorama road to one of Austria's most frequently visited tourist attractions right after the castle Schönbrunn. From the city Salzburg you need approximately 1.5 hours to reach the starting point of the High Alpine Road.

Eagle’s Nest (the house "Kehlsteinhaus")

This historic building with its metres thick walls was built during the NS regime. It provides a stunning view to the region Berchtesgadener Land. A tunnel built of natural stones leads 124 m through the rock massif to a pompous elevator. In 41 seconds this elevator takes you 124 metres up and right into the Eagle's Nest. Already the arrival along the street "Kehlensteinstraße", a masterpiece of engineering art, is an extraordinary experience. Distance from the city Salzburg: 30 km.
